Bad Guys 2 Review

The Bad Guys 2 is honestly better than the first. Cutting to the chase here, but it was a blast, with a couple flaws, but otherwise a really fun time. First off, the animation is better than the first, and downright amazing, especially for being outsourced. It was even more fluid and dynamic, and the fight scenes especially looked incredible. Especially the zero gravity fight scene near the end of the film, which was a highlight animation wise. The plot itself is insane, and very difficult to summarise without getting into spoilers. The film is very unpredictable with where it goes story wise, and for the most part it works, with a much more fun and fast paced plot. The villain, Kitty, is also really intimidating, and a scene stealer of a character. The other new characters are also pretty fun additions to the cast, but none compare to how good Kitty is as a villain. She is probably the perfect villain for this story, and Wolf’s arc in the film. Really trying not to get into spoilers here, as you can tell. I thought the pacing was really good for the first and second acts, being chaotic but also nothing feeling rushed, but I do feel like I have a major complaint with how the third act ended up. I feel like you had great buildup, but the actual third act of the film feels a bit rushed. Like the best way I can put it is that the first two parts felt chaotic but I didn’t mind because it all flowed together well, but then I feel like the third act feels chaotic in a way that is clunky, and not in a way that is attention grabbing and fun. I think the third act is significantly worse for another reason, which is that, the first ⅔ of the film has much less obnoxious kiddy humor than the first film, but then in the third act they bring back the Piranha farting gag that I don’t like about the first film, and almost go ‘this is to make up for the rest of the film not being obnoxious’ and just bombards you with fart humor. It’s not great.

However, despite being definitely flawed, I found myself really enjoying this film. I would give it a Strong 7/10, due to the third act bringing it down.
